The Academy Awards represent an evening of glitz and glamour. It’s a time to see others and be seen — and one of the easiest ways to get everyone’s attention is to wear an eye-catching ensemble. Some guests believe that any attention is better than no attention. Their outlandish outfits make sure they are noticed by others.
We’re currently gearing up to watch Brie Larson take on the role of Captain Marvel, but until then we’re happy to see what other looks she rocks during this awards season. For the 2019 Oscar Awards, Brie donned this silver column gown from Celine by Hedi Slimane. Complete with a high neck, a high thigh-slit, and slick waves, Brie looked like the beautiful superhero we all know she can be. If that’s chainmail material, then we applaud her for wearing that all night…
Emma Stone could wear a trash bag, and she’d still look like a million dollars. However, it’s safe to say that she wound up on the best-dressed list after the 2019 Oscar Awards. While she watched her The Favourite co-star accept her award on stage, fans were able to get a real look at this beautiful bronze Louis Vuitton gown. With raised shoulders and a structured shape to it, it was the kind of dress that didn’t need any introduction of accents. Her natural beauty was enough.
Kendall Jenner is known for showing off what her momager gave her, but she took her 2019 Vanity Fair Oscars after-party look to a whole new extreme. She left little to the imagination when she rocked the red carpet in this Rami Kadi couture gown. With a singular panel of fabric down the front of the dress, many fans were worried that she would suffer a wardrobe malfunction before the night was over. However, this isn’t her first rodeo, and she was able to pull off the look without any problems.
Olivia Colman made us both laugh and cry when she accepted her Best Actress Oscar award, but we just couldn’t take our eyes off our dress. Considering she has since taken over the world of Hollywood as a literal queen in The Favourite, she looked like the ultimate Royal in this Prada gown. Although the emerald green dress provided the focal point for this gown, there’s no doubt about the fact that the sheer, embellished sleeves and train had us all holding our breath in wonderment.
While many of her fellow guests were donning their pink gowns for the 2019 Oscar Awards, Rachel Weisz decided to check out another color on the color wheel. This red Givenchy gown certainly took people by surprise, as they weren’t expecting something both modern and traditional from the actress. The latex-look of the top sparked sci-fi vibes, while the floral and floating bottom half showed us just how feminine she can be. Altogether, though, it’s a marvelous creation. Givenchy should be proud.
Emilia Clarke may not be the tallest woman in Hollywood, but she has definitely proven over the years that she can be just as powerful as the rest. After all, she’s the Mother of Dragons! For the 2019 Oscars, Emilia stole the show with this beautiful lavender gown by Balmain. Bedazzled and bejeweled, this gown also featured an asymmetric neckline that gave the beautiful actress an intriguing silhouette. She teamed up this look with a sleek updo and a few diamonds to add a bit of extra sparkle.
Molly Sims is known for her career as a model and an actress, so she knows just how to make an entrance on the red carpet. At the 2019 Academy Awards, she walked into the event with her husband on her arm, but it’s fair to say that all eyes were on Molly. This figure-hugging Zuhair Murad gown featured eye-catching sparkle and cutouts around the midriff, and it was teamed perfectly with her slick updo. She looked absolutely stunning, and her husband didn’t brush up too badly either.
Tessa Thompson seems to be able to pull any look off, and this was no different at the 2019 Oscar Awards. As she walked down the red carpet, we were struck by her beautiful Chanel Couture gown, as the black and gold coloring stood out amongst the sea of pink and red gowns. This fitted dress also featured a peplum accent, and she teamed the whole thing up with gold jewelry. She kept her hair simple for this look, but it still looks absolutely stunning.
For the 2019 Oscar Awards, it seems as though Glenn Close asked Carolina Herrera to dress her like an actual Oscar award – and we’re loving it. This gold lamé gown looked absolutely stunning on the nominee, and although she may not have won the acting accolade, she certainly won over our hearts. After all, who doesn’t want to walk down the red carpet in a golden cape with matching clutch and earrings? We certainly wouldn’t say no, and we just hope that Glenn will finally get her chance to win her Oscar.
Jennifer Lopez always dresses to impress, but it’s fair to say that she doesn’t have to try too hard. She could wear anything and still look fabulous, but she still chooses to blow us all away with her red carpet ensembles. At the 2019 Oscar Awards, J-Lo rocked up in this Tom Ford mirror-ball mosaic gown, and it really was something. She coupled this dress with sleek Hollywood waves and a bit more bling for good measure. We bet it didn’t take long to find her in a crowd.
Can someone get Elie Saab on the phone? Because we want to be wearing this dress as soon as possible. Michelle Yeoh took our breath away when she wore this embellished princess gown. The Crazy Rich Asians alum looked as regal as ever in this off-the-shoulder number, and it’s fair to say that the colors and the patterns are what dreams are made of. It helps that Michelle obviously loved the dress herself because you can just see that she’s feeling this outfit…
Over the course of her career, we have seen Lady Gaga go through a rather extraordinary transformation. While her current looks hint towards her bizarre fashion choices of the past, this Alexander McQueen Oscars dress also oozes class and sophistication. The sleek, black look accentuates her incredible figure and her beautiful hair, and the gloves are a fun addition to the ensemble. Gaga’s appearance in A Star Is Born was well worth the Oscar she received on the night, but so was this dress.
This English actress may have been working on small British television shows a few years ago, but she has since broken into the world of Hollywood – and we kinda love her for it. Gemma Chan celebrated her success alongside her Crazy Rich Asians co-stars at the 2019 Oscar Awards, and she donned this bright pink Valentino gown to do just that. With a high ruffled neck, a huge train, and even some pockets thrown into the mix, this dress has everything you could possibly want in one gown.
Linda Cardellini took the red carpet by storm when she made her way onto the red carpet at the Oscars, and it’s fair to say that she turned a few heads in the process. When she turned up in this Schiaparelli pink gown, she definitely showed the world that she wanted to go big rather than go home. This multi-length gown came complete with more ruffles than we could count, and a giant bow in the center. Some may say it’s too much, but we say it’s just right.
Lucy Boynton’s boyfriend, Rami Malek, may have stolen the show after winning the Best Actor Award at the 2019 Oscars, but that doesn’t mean that we forgot to look at her outfit. In fact, this purple Rodarte gown looked absolutely stunning alongside her fair skin and her ice blonde hair. It popped on the red carpet, and it showed off her sophistication and her style. She teamed this look up with Cartier jewelry because no gown would be complete without Cartier.
Not everyone can pull off the orange look without looking reminiscent of a canary, but Constance Wu is one woman who can. This custom Versace gown was giving us major nostalgia as it looks very similar to the iconic Vera Wang gown worn by Michelle Williams in 2006, but this one certainly stands alone in its perfection. This soft and floaty look balanced her dark locks and her bold earrings, and we’d love to borrow this dress when Constance is done with it.
Ashley Graham is the kind of woman who can pull of any look, but it seems as though Zac Posen dress did the talking at the Oscars. This sleek and sophisticated mermaid dress may have looked simple, but the more you look at it, the more you realize that it’s all in the details. The asymmetrical neckline looks perfect on her, the cinched in waist shows off her famous figure, and the fishtail train adds a little surprise to her look. It’s not too much, and it’s not too little. It’s just right.
Thigh-high slits really do go one of two ways when it comes to red carpets, but you’ll be happy to know that Regina King rocked this look. In fact, she took a huge risk at the 2019 Oscar Awards. Not only did she opt for a rather long slit, but she also chose to wear white! Who could turn down this beautiful Oscar de la Renta gown, though? With her sleek hair and her trickling of diamonds, Regina proved that we don’t have to be scared of wearing white on the red carpet.
Kacey Musgraves seems to have really come into her own over the past few months, and she hasn’t been afraid to try something new. Because of this, it came as no surprise to watch the country music star walk down the red carpet in this pink Giambattista Valli gown. With a huge amount of material to contend with, we can’t imagine that it was too easy to sit down in this dress, but it certainly had the wow factor. Pink really was a favorite color of this year’s Oscars Awards.
Tina Fey has made a name for herself over the years as one of the funniest ladies in Hollywood, but she also knows how to dress up when the occasion arises. For the 2019 Oscar Awards, she donned this beautiful custom Vera Wang gown, and the color is just something else. This royal blue color popped alongside the red carpet and the white background of the Oscar runway, and her matching clutch and sparkling diamonds just made it even more fabulous.
Danai Gurira is one of the most popular women in Hollywood right now, so it should come as no surprise to learn that she also stole the show on the Oscars red carpet. This Walking Dead and Black Panther star walked down the red carpet in this Brock Collection gown. She utilized this red and gold theme throughout her whole outfit, including her headband and her jewelry. The short bodice and the large skirt also gave us serious princess vibes, which naturally means that we loved it.
Marie Kondo may be known for helping her clients clean out their closets, but this dress definitely sparks joy and should not be thrown out in a hurry. She showed off her petite frame in this beautiful pink blush gown, complete with a ruched waist and flower embellishments. In true Marie Kondo form, she did not overcomplicate the outfit. She kept her accessories as simple as possible with her wedding ring and a beautiful pair of delicate earrings. It’s organized and tidy, which is exactly what she’s known for.
Charlize Theron is one of the biggest names in Hollywood, and it’s fair to say that she doesn’t need to put on big displays to show the world just how impressive she is. This baby blue Dior gown hugged her figure in all of the right places but also gave her a little space for movement. Yes, just look at those shoulders and those cuffed sleeves! As if that wasn’t enough, this outfit also came complete with a matching train and rows of pearls. Smart, sophisticated, and perfect for the Oscars.
When it comes to making a statement, Amandla Stenberg certainly knows what she is doing. For the 2019 Oscar Awards, Amandla utilized the beauty of this Miu Miu gown to make take the red carpet by storm. She turned heads when this chiffon silk gown, complete with crystal chains, made her way into the venue, and it’s fair to say that photographers couldn’t wait to snap this outfit. As if the dress wasn’t enough, Stenberg also stole the show with her Hollywood wave braids and a sophisticated updo.
Jennifer Hudson showed off her newly slimmed-down figure at the 2019 Oscar Awards, and it’s fair to say that her fans and co-stars were here for it. The singer and talent show host donned this Elie Saab Couture gown for the event, and she looked ravishing in red. With one sleeve, ruffles, and a slit in the front of the dress, Hudson was able to show off the dress in all of its glory. She didn’t let her jewelry or hair overpower the dress, because it was all about the Couture.
Marianne Farley is known for being behind the camera, but when she made her way in front of the camera for the 2019 Oscars, there’s no doubt about the fact that she made an impact. This Canadian filmmaker rocked this MAR by Maria Karimi dress, and it was certainly unusual. While it didn’t float everyone’s boats, we love the oversized accents that adorn this white dress. The oversized buttons, the oversized sleeves, and the oversized slit take this simple gown to the next level.
Amy Adams is a natural beauty, and she rarely has to go overboard with her outfits to make a statement. In fact, in February 2019, this white Versace gown was enough to take the Oscars by storm. This tailored gown hugged her figure and fell to the floor in a perfect train. Of course, no Oscars gown would be complete without a few jewels, and Amy coupled this dress with a chunky necklace and bracelet combination. Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, after all.
Sarah Paulson has never been afraid to try out a new style on the red carpet, and she did just that at the 2019 Oscar Awards. It seems as though this year was all about the pink because Sarah showed the world what she was made of in this Brandon Maxwell gown. This billowing skirt adds a sense of sophistication and class to the vibrant color, and the necklace adds a bit of bling to the block colors. Many people were left questioning the cut-outs on the waist, but we think it works.
It’s always a big deal when a celeb turns up in Armani, and Leslie Bibb turned up to the 21 Academy Awards alongside her partner, Sam Rockwell, both dressed up to the nines in Armani. Leslie wore this custom blue gown for the event and looked absolutely stunning as she teamed up the bejeweled dress with long rows of diamonds and pearls. She wore her hair in a sleek and sophisticated updo that gave the dress its chance to shine.
Helen Mirren always knows how to take our breath away, and at 73 years old she doesn’t show signs of stopping anytime soon. This iconic actress decided to show off just how long it takes to get ready for the Oscars on her social media channels, but it’s fair to say that it was worth it for this Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown. This hot pink dress perfectly complemented her sleek hair and her matching clutch, but it didn’t end there. Mirren also wore a 136-carat diamond necklace from Harry Winston!
Kate Upton looked as gorgeous as always at the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty in 2016. Even though she didn’t go to the awards ceremony itself, she managed to captivate her fans and the media with the sleek black dress she wore to the afterparty. Her Victoria Beckham dress looked amazing despite having no details sewn or embroidered on it. The beauty of this dress lies solely in its design, which consists of a waistline and skirt that clings to the model’s body. Her dress is also sleeveless with a low neckline, and Upton wore light jewelry with it while carrying a small black clutch.
Penelope Cruz, who plays a pirate called Angelica in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, attended this movie’s premiere at Cannes in 2011. She graced the red carpet alongside her co-star Johnny Depp, who plays her ex Captain Jack Sparrow. The dress she wore was an almost see-through Marchesa design that had a glittering detail embroidered on it. Her dress also had a tulle detail that looked like a cheerleader’s pom-pom on each of her shoulders. The same tulle netting was used as part of her dress’ skirt.
At the 2017 Billboard Latin Music Awards, Jennifer Lopez performed her then-new Spanish song called “Mirate” wearing this dress. She wowed both her fans and producer with this performance and also received an award on that day still wearing the same dress. This Julien Macdonald dress was mostly made up of a mesh-like fabric that had cuts and a slit that looked perfect on Lopez’s well-toned body. She wore gold Jimmy Choo heels with this dress and had her makeup done by Scott Barnes.
After the 2017 Golden Globes ceremony, Emily Ratajkowski headed to the Beverly Hilton Hotel for the afterparty celebration. She attended the Warner Bros. and InStyle afterparty clad in a silky yellow dress. Her Reem Acra gown featured a beaded detail on her back that went to her halter and then ran down the middle of the front part of her dress. Even though her dress looked pretty, it also embarrassed her in front of the cameras. This dress had a slit in the middle that she had planned to use to show off her legs, but in doing so, she ended up revealing a whole lot more.
The award-winning actress who’s popular for her portrayal of a courtesan in the movie Moulin Rouge! graced the red carpet in an extraordinary blue dress. Her Armani dress had a leg slit in the middle, which she used very generously to show off her legs when posing. The only thing that we’re not so sure about is that gigantic bow in the middle. However, this isn’t her first time on the red carpet and she’s developed a reputation because of her love of dresses with bold colors and designs.
Actress and singer Eiza González made her debut at the Oscars in 2018. The Mexican telenovela star, who had a minor role alongside Jamie Foxx in the movie Baby Driver, was given the opportunity to be a presenter at the Oscars. When she entered the red carpet, she had heads turning because of her bright yellow Ralph Lauren dress. Although her yellow floor-length dress looked modest, its tight-fitting design accentuated her well-toned body without showing too much skin. With this dress, she wore a good-sized bracelet and a pair of earrings that matched well with her dress.
The Russian model, who’s also one of soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo’s ex-lovers, shocked everyone at the Vanity Fair Oscar afterparty. She arrived half-naked, and we say that because of a very major detail in the design of her dress: It was made up of black fabric on one side that covered only the bare essentials, while the other side was made of a stocking-like mesh. With this Atelier Versace dress, she wore unassuming black heels and no jewelry at all.
The former Oscar winner went for gold with her dress at this year’s Oscars. After having to fill in for Casey Affleck, who was supposed to be a presenter at this year’s Oscars celebration, Jennifer Lawrence arrived at the event wearing a glittering gold Dior dress. Her sequined dress looked a lot like chainmail, which made her look like a more elegant version of a knight. This fashion statement could be linked to her support of women’s rights. What adds more merit to this claim is the fact that this dress was designed by the only female designer at Dior.
Chrissy Teigen, a model and musician John Legend’s wife, wore a very controversial dress to the 2016 AMAs. This dress had two leg slits that went up to just above her hips. Although her dress was held by a pin, she had to hold it herself so that it wouldn’t flutter and reveal a bit too much. Despite her and her husband’s best efforts, she couldn’t stop the dress from doing the unthinkable. Teigen ended up having to apologize on social media for what her dress had done to her, and that sparked a heated debate online.
At the 2014 Golden Globes celebration, Sofia Vergara was nominated for an award. When she was at the event, she wore a black dress but later changed into another one for the afterparty. According to a tweet she posted, the dress she wore at the afterparty was inspired by Jennifer Lopez. Her Zuhair Murad dress had silver beads lying on a bed of black fabric with a neckline that stopped just under her breasts. Vergara was wearing heels designed by Brian Atwood when she arrived at the Beverly Hilton Hotel for the afterparty celebration with her son and then-fiance Nick Loeb.
Jenna Dewan-Tatum, who’s famous for her performance in the movie Step Up, wore this dress at an afterparty she’d planned. She was supposed to go to the 2018 Oscars with her husband Channing Tatum, who preferred to spend his night babysitting their daughter. With her Oscars plan now called off, she teamed up with her friend Emmanuelle Chriqui, who planned the afterparty with her. Dewan-Tatum dazzled everyone present at the party with a red Pamella Roland dress that had a very high leg slit. She paired this dress with golden Casadei heels and jewelry designed by Lorraine Schwartz.
Kendall Jenner is famous for liking to show off her body — whether she’s on or off the runway. At the 2017 Met Gala, though, she took things a whole lot further and wore something that resembled a dress. This “dress” of hers was more of a veil than anything else. It even showed her underwear. It also had a long leg slit, and when viewed from the front, it looked very similar to something you’d find in the ladies swimwear section at your local clothing store. With this “dress,” she wore black heels and minimalistic jewelry, but even this couldn’t cover up her fashion blunder.
Margot Robbie, who’s well known for her portrayal of Harley Quinn in the movie Suicide Squad, was nominated for an Oscar in 2018. The actress was a nominee at the Awards for her role as Tonya Harding in the film I, Tonya. Although this was her first nomination, her marvellous fashion choices made it look like this wasn’t her first rodeo. Margot Robbie wore a white Chanel dress that put a modern twist on red carpet dresses that were worn in the 1990s. She also wore diamond-studded jewelry from Chanel with high heels from Roger Vivier.
The Belgian-born Victoria’s Secret Angel looked more like a ravishing demon in her sleek black dress at an Oscars afterparty. She wore this dress to a Vanity Fair party that was hosted by Radhika Jones in Beverly Hills, California. This dress is very similar to the one she wore at another Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty in 2017. Her 2018 dress has a few minor design differences compared to the 2017 dress. The major differences are that her 2017 dress was silvery in color and didn’t have a leg slit. Her 2018 dress also had a very low neckline that nearly reached her stomach.
Samara Weaving, who’s known for her supporting role in the movie Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, looked outrageously stunning at the 2018 Oscars. She arrived at the event in a coral-colored dress that touched the floor. Her Schiaparelli dress was held together by two bands at the waist and also featured a low neckline. She paired this dress with a simple ring, a Valextra purse and a pair of earrings. Weaving’s dress made her look like a goddess you’d find in Greek mythology. Her excellent taste in fashion even made us forget that this was her first time at the Oscars.
On her second day at Cannes in 2017, Emily Ratajkowski went with the event’s extravagant theme and wore a jumpsuit with a twist. Her jumpsuit looked more like a dress with its tiered skirt and lacy accents. To avoid having to carry the weight of her dress on her shoulders, she asked her designer to do something different. Her designer, a former Roberto Cavalli executive, made her this jumpsuit that had the weight of the jumpsuit’s skirt balanced on her waist. Ratajkowski wore modest accessories and black heels that looked wonderful with this creation.
Rachel McAdams arrived at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival with her then-boyfriend and co-star Michael Sheen. She came to this festival to attend the premiere of a movie she was in called Midnight in Paris. McAdams wore a red Marchesa dress that had intricate embroidery and a beautiful lacy touch to its design. She paired this dress with gold Casadei shoes and jewelry by Bulgari before heading to the runway with Sheen. According to a social media post made by a fashionista, she’s one of the best-dressed celebrities to ever walk the Cannes red carpet.
In 2016, Bella Hadid attended her first Cannes Film Festival, gracing the red carpet in this nude-colored dress. Glad to be rid of her mother and sister’s shadows, she posed confidently at the premiere of Café Society. Although some critics have suggested that her fashion career is successful because of her last name, she proved them wrong with this dress. This dress is a Roberto Cavalli Couture design that’s adorned with only a few details, and it looked dazzling when paired with the diamond de Grisogono necklace she had on. She also wore a de Grisogono bracelet that looked good with the dress, necklace and Stuart Weitzman heels.
Diane Kruger was extremely involved at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. We saw her go to a number of parties, photo shoots and premieres. While doing all that, she changed her dresses often, but the dress that stole most of our hearts is the blue dress she wore to the Sea of Trees premiere. This floor-length light blue Prada dress had strong details embroidered on its front and didn’t show much skin. The only skin you would get to see is her arms and back, but even that had a sash flowing down from her dress’ halter.
Rita Ora rose to stardom because of a song she recorded with Iggy Azalea called “Black Widow.” This song is also what got her to the 2014 VMAs, where she got both the chance to perform on stage and the opportunity to walk the red carpet. She looked stunning on the red carpet in her silky red dress that had a hip-high leg slit. Ora also wore bright-red lipstick that matched well with her dress. Her look, in general, was a modernized version of 1950s fashion and her slicked-back hairdo made her look like a modern-day Marilyn Monroe.
The Gucci brand exhibited its second premiere at the opening ceremony of the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. This is where Salma Hayek got the opportunity to walk down the red carpet representing the brand at the Midnight in Paris premiere. Her champagne-colored dress featured an elaborate embroidered design that had beads, crystals and sequins artfully strewn on the strapless top part of her dress. With this dress, Salma Hayek adorned herself with jewelry from Boucheron and carried a small clutch that was also designed by Gucci.
Eva Longoria, who’s spent more than a decade walking the Cannes red carpets, wore a toned-down but extremely striking dress at the 2014 festival. The dress she wore to the Saint Laurent premiere was a Gabriela Cadena design. Even though she had her doubts when she saw the design on paper, they all ceased after she saw it in person. The dress was white-colored, silky and had a light embroidered detail. The detail on Longoria’s figure-hugging dress also consisted of a tasteful amount of Swarovski crystals and pearls of different sizes. She decided to wear only a bracelet and a pair of earrings with this dress.
Ashley Graham, who’s continuously opening doors for larger-sized models by modeling for big brands like Vogue, wore a stunning dress to an event in 2016. She walked the red carpet at the GQ Men of the Year Awards in a black Tadashi Shoji dress that had a lacy top and a thigh-high leg slit. According to the Tadashi Shoji website, Graham’s dress was a revamped version of their Riley Gown. The only difference between Graham’s dress and the Riley Gown is that her dress was sleeveless, its leg slit was more to her right side and it had a lower neckline.
A model since she was 15 years old, Naomi Campbell has had the opportunity to work with top designers and get her face on magazine covers. Unlike some of her other ventures, her modeling career has been as bright and beautiful as her 2010 Cannes dress was. She wore this Roberto Cavalli dress that was made specifically for her at the premiere of the movie Biutiful. The dress was studded with gold and brown sequins that blended well with her skin tone. Campbell’s dress clung beautifully to her body, and she matched it with a pair of earrings and a bracelet while holding a clutch purse.
Lady Gaga and fellow artist Tony Bennett released an album that debuted atop the 2014 Billboard 200 list. That album earned them an award and a time slot at the 2015 Grammy Awards, where they performed their hit single, “Cheek to Cheek.” As expected, Lady Gaga stunned her fans on the red carpet with an awesome silvery Brandon Maxwell dress that matched her hair. The dress had a neckline that dropped down to just under her sternum and a long leg slit. To add more bling and color to her attire, Lady Gaga wore jewelry from Lorraine Schwartz and silver-colored heels.
Kerry Washington, who starred in Django Unchained alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Jamie Foxx, wore this tulle dress to the 2009 Cannes Film Festival. Her Zuhair Murad dress was made of off-white tulle fabric, and it had a navy blue floral detail embroidered on it. This dress was a snug fit with no straps. It also had a Disney princess-like train attached to it that was made with the same fabric as the rest of her dress. Washington’s dress also featured a detail that looked like a navy band that went around her knees, where the train started flowing.
Nicki Minaj, who rose to fame after her first studio album, was buckled up in this black dress at 2016 Met Gala. Minaj is known for not being shy about flaunting her body, and this figure-hugging dress looked great on her curves. It was a custom-made design by Jeremy Scott that featured buckle details on its front, sides and upper sleeves among other places. Minaj’s dress also had two sashes overlapping each other on her breasts that were fastened by buckles to its halter. She then perfected this look by adding a white tint to her black hair. This paired well with the colors of her dress.
Kendall Jenner’s bold taste in fashion has us featuring her for the second time on this list of outrageous dresses. This time, though, her dress is a success. She wore this dress to the 120 Beats Per Minute premiere at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. Jenner’s white Giambattista Valli mini-dress had a metallic detail achieved by setting parallel patterns in a diagonal manner. This dress also had a free-flowing train that looked wonderful when blown by the French wind. Jenner wore a large Chopard ring, heels and sheer ankle socks with this dress.
Her Aretha Franklin scandal aside, Madonna has always managed to get weirdness, controversy and sometimes outright provocation mixed up in her life and art. The dress she wore to the 2015 Grammy Awards sums up all three of those points. Madonna wore a black Givenchy bodysuit that was modeled after the attire worn by Spanish and Portuguese bullfighters. She wore this dress with black stockings and black leather boots that went up to her thighs. Her entire look resembled something you’d find at a lingerie store, and to add fuel to the fire, Madonna purposefully flashed her behind to the cameras.
At the 2015 Cannes premiere of the movie Mad Max: Fury Road, Charlize Theron brightened up the red carpet in her yellow dress. Her strapless Dior dress was a simple yet elegant design that clung to her waist and had a long train. Theron wasn’t entirely satisfied with it when she first saw it at the festival, and she had master seamstresses flown in to make it ready for the red carpet. Her dress wasn’t the only Dior product she had on — her makeup also came courtesy of Dior, and it was applied to her by makeup artist Pati Dubroff.
Kim Kardashian was seen gracing the red carpet alongside her husband Kanye West at the 2014 MTV VMAs. Kardashian wore a dress that was designed by one of her favorite fashion brands, Balmain. This dress had a Medieval Times vibe to it because of its cape-like top. Her Balmain dress had black, red and white detail that was patterned in such a way to resemble a Greek or Roman soldier’s armor. Her ancient warrior look was accentuated by her dress’ short skirt and her strapped black Balmain heels. After adding a little makeup and wearing Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, Kardashian looked like a perfect goddess of war from ancient tales.
Kanye West’s ex-girlfriend Amber Rose showed up at the MTV Movie and TV Awards in a red two-piece dress. While wearing this dress, she got to socialize with the entertainment industry’s biggest stars, like model and actress Cara Delevingne. Since it was raining at the time of the event, Rose hired a team of professionals who made sure that her dress would look great in front of the cameras. We know that they did a great job because she looked comfortable throughout the event and even blew kisses at the photographers.
Gigi Hadid, a model and social media sensation, has worked with top fashion brands and designers like Tom Ford since her school days. At the 2015 amfAR gala, she wore a white dress that was designed by the aforementioned brand. Hadid’s white dress had a rectangular cutout at the front that stretched from under her halter down to her midsection. Her dress was a slim fit that didn’t have the usual red carpet flaring train, and it also had a leg slit that went up to her left thigh. She wore this dress with jewelry from Vita Fede and a pair of heels from Aquazzura.
Emma Stone, who portrayed the character Jill in the Woody Allen movie Irrational Man, attended its premiere at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. The dress she wore at the premiere was a light blue Christian Dior design that had the classic straight-cut neckline that the brand’s founder became famous for. This dress had an open back and a cute train that wasn’t too long or too short. Stone’s dress didn’t have any details added to its design except for a lacy outer layer. The actress then completed her elegant look with a short hairstyle, minimal makeup and a shiny choker.
Miranda Kerr was very excited about going to an Oscars afterparty in 2016. She even prepared herself in advance and had a facial using a Kora Organics face mask. She arrived at the Vanity Fair event wearing a red KaufmanFranco dress that had a swimsuit-styled top adjoined to its skirt. Her dress also had a slightly flared floor-length skirt and a slit running down the middle of its front part. With this dress, she wore a pair of earrings and red lipstick that matched her dress while carrying an oval-shaped gold clutch-purse.
Chart-topping singer Ciara arrived at the 2016 Grammy Awards with her now-husband Russell Wilson. At the event, she wore this black dress that was designed by Alexandre Vauthier. The dress hung from her neck on thin straps, and it had a low V-styled neckline.
