HBO Documentary ‘Being Serena’ To Air May 2nd

Serena Williams will soon share her personal journey with the world. Being Serena is an HBO exclusive and intimate look at her life. Because of her extraordinary talent, she has been in the public eye since she was 14 years old.

The teaser has been released and we can’t wait to tune into the five-part series. Williams is one of the world’s greatest tennis players. At 36, she has won 39 Grand Slam titles and four Olympic gold medals. An icon, a sister, a champion and more recently, a wife and mother. Her life has changed dramatically in the past two years, and the HBO documentary will share her personal journey and showcase her work off the court as well.

It will be a never-before-seen look into the star’s personal and public life. Serena has a phenomenally successful career and has dominated ladies tennis for many years. Most professional athletes her age in tennis are stepping back, off the court and possibly moving into other interests like coaching, commentating or other fields altogether.

However, every so often, there are tennis superstars like Serena and Roger Federer who just seem to get better and better. Their talent, dedication and success drive them forward. They are legends of the game.

In 2017, Serena married Reddit co- founder Alexis Ohanian. The star reveals that she did not have an easy pregnancy and in fact nearly died after giving birth to their first child, Alexis Olympia Ohanian. Being the best at what she does and pushing herself to exceed her limits is what Serena is all about. Serena even candidly admits that one of the first thoughts she had when she found out she was pregnant was about her career. Ms. Williams was worried about how she would be able to play.

Even upon learning about her pregnancy, she was putting pressure on herself to be the best.

The documentary will also chronicle her marriage, pregnancy and highlight her other, possibly lesser-known talents. Serena is passionate about fashion, invests in technology and is a businesswoman too. She also sits on the board of Oath, a subsidiary of Verizon. Serena is a total champ when it comes to business, life and family. Her off-court skills are ace too: philanthropist, fashionista, new mother, wife and superstar.

We’re thinking Serena could run for president next. She’d surely get plenty of support from her fans and would be a terrific leader with her business acumen and strength of discipline.

Serena is back on the courts already. She may have been knocked out in the first round of the Miami Open, but like any true champion, she sees it all as an opportunity to grow and learn from her mistakes as well as where she needs to work to get back into tip-top form. We have no doubt that this fierce and super-talented competitor will be going after a few more titles to add to her collection.
