Exercise is hard. Few people actually enjoy doing it because it puts such a strain on their body. Unfortunately, if you want to stay in shape and live a longer life, you need to implement some regular physical activity into your day. No, this doesn’t mean you need to shell out on a gym membership or expensive equipment for your home. There’s so much you can do to keep fit without paying a dime.
You might not be familiar with the name calisthenics, but chances are you know the exercises that it involves. It features all of the basic workouts for training your body, including squats, lunges, push-ups, and planks. No, they’re not the most fun to do, but you don’t need any equipment whatsoever to complete them. All that’s required is some space on the floor for you to stretch out and do each exercise without knocking into anything. After completing a routine of this several times a week for a few months, you’ll be amazed by the differences in your body.
Running probably comes to most people’s minds when they think of exercise, and that’s because it’s so easy to do. Well, okay, maybe the actual workout isn’t that simple, but anyone can do it. After all, you don’t need any equipment to go out for a run. All you need is a pair of trainers and preferably some clothes, and you’re good to go. Whether you’re able to run for several miles or several minutes, it doesn’t matter. With enough practice, you’ll become an expert in no time. Then you can start eyeing up those marathons.
This might surprise you, but yes, yoga does count as a workout. You’re stretching your body into new and unexpected positions, all of which require you to exert a fair bit of energy. By including yoga as part of a regular exercise routine, you’ll find yourself immensely more fit and flexible than you were before. Plus, you’ll probably feel a lot more relaxed too. After all, yoga is a great way to tune out the world and release all that built up tension. What other reason do you need to use it as a workout?
High-intensity interval training
High-intensity interval training - or HIIT - has become popular with exercise enthusiasts recently because it’s so effective at burning fat and improving fitness. You can do it from the comfort of your home without any equipment as it only requires you to push yourself in short bursts of activity. From running on the spot to doing jumping jacks, you have so much freedom with this workout. It will certainly work up a sweat, but you’ll be glad of that when your metabolism is higher and your waist slimmer.
It’s hard enough finding the motivation to exercise in the first place, so the need for equipment shouldn’t act as a further deterrent. Thankfully, none of these exercises require you to pay out money for things you don’t already have. Unfortunately, now you have no excuse not to work out.
